The Forehead Kiss . . .

In the quiet of the day, as the last rays of light shone bright through the window, she sat the on the sill and looked out to the world. Knees pulled to her chest, and her arms wrapped around them, she felt heavy and worn from the day.

He was walking pass the room, but stopped as he saw her there in the window. With steady steps he closed the distance between them and, he too, sat on the sill. He didn’t speak and neither did she, but he took her hand.

On her forehead he placed a kiss, and just like that the weight of the day eased away.
